Viewers Take Action To Help Save Little Girl's Life

Posted: Updated:

Omaha, NE - Emerson White came to Omaha from Colorado for a multiple organ transplant. But her body has rejected one of the organs. She now needs a second life-saving transplant. To make matters worse, Colorado's medicade will not cover her.  Emerson's mom asked Action 3 News for help on Monday and viewers are responding.

A mothers cry for help to battle a beaucratic nightmare and save her daughter is being heard by thousands. On Monday Erika White told us how shocked she was when the phone call from Colorado Medicade came.  "She has the will to live and the surgons have the means to save her and in that moment I realized that wasn't enough. That somebody also has to pay for it."

Mother of 2 young girls, Molly Patton, was outraged when she heard Emerson's story. "Where do the insurance companies stop? You know they tell you what medications you can take and now they're telling you your daughters life isn't worth our money?"  So Patton is taking action to help the little girl.  "My first thought was I have two little girls of my own and that could just as easily be them and it just really made me sad."  Patton is donating money to Emerson's family and she's not alone. We're hearing from several people touched by our story including Marvin Kellogg. "I saw this nice little girl on there she needs help."

While Emerson's mom waits to hear if her daughter may get a life-saving surgery, she thanks Action 3 News viewers. "The human spirit is so kind and giving and that people are so good. And the out pouring of love and support for myself and my family is astounding. Thank you!"

If you would like to donate to Emerson, click her picture on our home page.  You can also come to The Corner Pocket on February 4th for A Night For Emerson.  Action 3 News will bring you more details as they develop.
