Pet Detective On The Case of Missing Dogs

Posted:

Auburn, NE - You've seen the posters of lost pets hanging up around town.  Now there is another way to find your missing dog.  Hire a pet detective.

A nationally-known detective is visiting Nebraska to teach some special animals how to find their fellow four-legged friends.

Private investigator Karin TarQwyn is more like a paws investigator. "My dogs are trained to follow the specific scent of individual dog."

When called, she and her team of dogs travel the country searching for lost pets.   "We don't have magic wands. The dogs are a tool. I am on the dumb end of the leash they are on the smart end."

Karin is working with the no-kill shelter near Auburn called Hearts United for Animals. She is training dogs that have been rescued to do some rescuing themselves.

One of Karin's newest pet pupils searching for pooches is Yuri.  Hearts United rescued him from a puppy mill just three months ago. Karin shows a picture of a hairless dog. "He had mange and no hair at all."

In fact, Yuri spent most of his life in a cage, breeding. He walked on grass for the first time 24 hours ago.

Karin says past five years, she's worked 1500 missing dog cases and 80-percent have been found.
