Omaha, NE.- A candidate for mayor has a secret plan.
Hal Daub say he can keep the Omaha Royals in Omaha.
The future of Omaha's new downtown ballpark is still cloudy.
The College World Series is in for the next 25 years, but the Royals are looking to move to Sarpy County starting in 2011.
During a news conference today where he outlined his economic plans for the next ten years Daub said, "I will make a deal to keep the Royals."
Up until March 15th the Royals are negotiating exclusively with Sarpy County, but if those talks fall through Daub wants to get in the game, "I have a very good solution."
Daub won't say what that solution is arguing he doesn't want to negotiate in public.
City Councilman Jim Vokal who is running against Daub claimed today that there's little chance the Royals will play in the new downtown stadium.
Vokal says Daub is being dishonest with the voters.
Daub's campaign says it wants to hear Vokal's plans for Omaha's economic future, not just a negative attack.
