Action 3 News and the Nebraska State Patrol are teaming up to bring you information on how to keep your children safe in the car.
One of the most important jobs you have as a parent is keeping your child safe when riding in a vehicle. Each year thousands of young children are killed or injured in car crashes. Proper use of car safety seats and seat belts help to keep children safe.
When children outgrow their booster seats - usually at age 8 or when they are 4'9" tall - they should use the adult seat belt. The lap belt should lay across the upper thighs and the shoulder belt should lay across the chest.
Children who are 13 years old and younger should always ride in the back seat.
