A roadside bomb in Iraq leaves a Glenwood, Iowa man dead.
Sergeant Joseph Bradley Ryan Milledge of the Stryker Brigade died Friday when it exploded next to the vehicle he was riding in. His mother and sister still live in Glenwood.
They say he was a giving man who loved helping the children who live in war tore regions of Iraq.
"He felt bad for them because it wasn't their fault what was going," says Carla Milledge, his mother.
"He said I am a soldier and I am proud of what I do. But he doesn't want people to remember him for what he did, but for what he was. He loved children and that is why he was there," says his sister, Mary Cooper.
Milledge leaves behind a wife and son as well as his mother and father and seven brothers and sisters.
He'll be buried in Washington state where he most recently lived.
