Police Confirm Officer Shot Man During Stop at 84th and F

Omaha, NE - A 15-year old boy is in critical condition after witnesses say he got into a shoot-out with a police officer.  It happened at 84th and G Streets on Friday evening, after police stopped a car for having expired license plates.  Officers say they found marijuana inside the car.

Moments later, things take a dramatic turn.

"It was crazy because we had a few customers inside and all you hear is a bunch of sirens everywhere and cops are flying down the street and everything is blocked off, says witness, Jason Heath.

Eyewitnesses tell us a teenage boy bolted from the car and started running up the street with an officer carrying a weapon running just ten feet behind him.  They heard gunshots soon after.  A police spokesman says there was actually an exchange of gunfire and the boy was shot in the chest by the officer.  He was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition.

The teen's name has not been released.  Two additional men have been arrested.  They are 20-year old Allen Jones and 20-year old Charles Thompson.  No police officers were injured.

Nearly two dozen police cars are at the scene.  Traffic in the area is very backed up, so police ask drivers to avoid it if they can.
