Des Moines, IA - An Iowa child has died from swine flu, the first reported death of a child in the state. The child lived in eastern Iowa, the Iowa Department of Public Health has not disclosed the child's age or the circumstances of the death.
Medical director Dr. Patricia Quinlisk says the child's death should be reminder to protect Iowa children from swine flu. Quinlisk says "surveillance is showing a steady increase in pediatric illness and hospitalizations."
Seven people have died from H1N1 in Iowa.
