Omaha, NE - For the first time we're hearing from a father whose son is feared dead at the hands of his own mother! Now, he shares his fears with Action 3 News.
We're still waiting for dental records to confirm whose body was found up near 28th and Ida. Right now, Angela Manns is under arrest and her 12-year-old is still missing. Michael Belitz loved to read, and wanted to be a Husker football player when he grew up. But no one has heard from Micheal in weeks. His dad tells us exclusively, he's not sure he ever will.
An emotional father fears the worst. "They don't know if it's Michael yet, but chances are it is," says Michael's dad, Lenny Belitz. Belitz's 12-year-old old son hasn't been seen in weeks. His mother, Angela Mann, is under arrest. Police found a decomposing body in her North Omaha home.
Lenny tells us he's prepared for some terrible news because he hasn't been able to get a hold of Michael in awhile. "I'd call and leave messages and leave messages and leave messages." In fact it's been six weeks since Lenny's talked to his son. That's when he dropped him off at his mom's house after a weekend together. A house now surrounded by crime tape and police cars.
Belitz doesn't know why Mann was arrested. And he really doesn't know her all that well. They had one night together 12 years ago. He claims his son told him that he would sometimes barricade himself in his room though, away from Mann. "When his mom would go on a rampage he would just go in his bedroom and shut the door."
What happened in the house in recent weeks we have yet to find out. As for Michael's dad, he holds on to little hope that his son is still alive.
Lenny and his son reunited a couple years back after Lenny went through rehab. Micheal just also recently took his dad's last name. As for the body found, it could be a couple of days before we find out who it is.

Late Tuesday evening Police remove several bags of evidence from Angela Manns home before taking down crime scene tape. While the identity of the body inside is not known, friends and family have left flowers, stuffed animals and notes out side of the crime scene to remember Michael Belitz.
